Recertification Now Open for DCNPs Expiring on December 31, 2024

August 1, 2024

Recertification is now open for Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioners (DCNPs) whose certification will expire on December 31, 2024. Unsure of your DCNP expiration date? Log into your profile at dnpcb.org and check the bottom right corner of the first profile section under "My Profile."

To maintain your certification, DCNPs must complete their recertification application, submit all required continuing education (CE) hours via CE Broker, and pay the $300 recertification fee by October 31, 2024. Late applications will be accepted from November 1 to December 15, 2024, with an additional $100 late fee, totaling $400 for recertification.

Streamlined Recertification Process

The DNPCB has simplified the recertification process by offering an online portal where DCNPs can apply for recertification, pay fees, print certificates, and update personal information. Paper applications are no longer accepted. All transactions, including the recertification fee, must be completed through the DNPCB website at www.dnpcb.org.

Steps to Recertify

  1. Enter CE Hours in CE Broker: DCNPs must log 60 hours of continuing education in CE Broker using their personalized certificate number. If you haven’t registered yet, you can do so at www.cebroker.com. Your CE Broker number can be found in the bottom left corner of the first profile section under "My Profile".

  2. Submit the Recertification Application: The recertification application will be available starting August 1, 2024. To access the application, you will need to log in to your DCNP profile and click Recertification. Complete the form, pay the recertification fee, and submit it by the October 31 deadline. Applications submitted between November 1 and December 15 will incur a $100 late fee.

  3. Review and Approval: Your CE hours will be reviewed by the DNPCB Recertification Committee. Once approved, you will receive an email notification by December 15, 2024, with instructions on how to download and print your updated certificate. The review period currently takes 6 to 8 weeks after your application and hours are submitted.

Recertification Requirements

To maintain your DCNP certification, you must:

  • Hold an active and unrestricted registered nurse license.
  • Have at least three years of recent experience as a dermatology nurse practitioner.
  • Maintain national certification as a nurse practitioner.
  • Accumulate 60 hours of CE, focusing on dermatology, over the three-year certification period.

Detailed information about recertification categories and options, including academic courses, professional publications, dermatology presentations, certification test review sessions, and precepting, is available on the DNPCB website.

CE Broker Support

CE Broker offers a free Basic Account to all DCNPs, which includes tools to track your course history and CE compliance status. For additional support, the CE Broker Help Center is available Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM ET, at 877-434-6323 or via live chat and email.

For those interested in additional features, CE Broker also offers Professional and Concierge accounts with enhanced tracking tools and personalized support.

Please note that while some state licenses may not be supported by CE Broker, this will not impact your ability to upload CE for recertification.
